Air Purifier Systems

About Air Purifier Systems

What this site is, how it relates to the store that used this domain before, where its information comes from and what it does not do.

Air Purifier Systems is an independent guide to home air purifiers, written for households in the United States. Until about 2023 the domain airpurifiersystems.com was an online store selling air purifiers and filters from several makers. This site is a new publication that continues that subject. It is not that store and is not run by the people behind it: it sells nothing, takes no orders and cannot answer questions about orders, returns, warranties or filters bought from the store. Some of the store's old product and help addresses now lead to the guides here that answer the same questions, such as how to size a purifier or when to replace a filter.

What the guides cover

How portable air cleaners work, HEPA and activated carbon filters, CADR and room sizing, filter replacement, noise and energy use, wildfire smoke, tobacco smoke, allergens, odors, VOCs, mold and viruses as air-quality questions, ozone generators and other technologies, and choosing a unit for a room.

Where the information comes from

Figures and statements about health or regulation come from primary sources: US government agencies such as EPA, CDC, DOE and the California Air Resources Board, standards bodies, and peer-reviewed papers. Each guide lists the sources it relies on. Where sources disagree, the guide names both.

What this site does not do

It sells nothing, recommends no brand or shop and takes no sponsorship. It has not tested any air purifier and publishes no reviews or ratings. It gives general information, not medical advice: an air purifier cleans air and does not cure, treat or prevent any disease. Anyone with a health concern should talk to a clinician.
